Shopping the Sales

Happy New Year to all Meadowhall customers – I hope you had a lovely indulgent Christmas!

If you are a keen sales shopper there’s no doubt you’ll have already fought through the sale shopping frenzy to bag yourself the best of the sale items. If the long queues and crowds of shoppers put you off sale shopping and you are yet to pursue a few bargains, late January is a great time to get out there as lines will be reduced even further. To give you a helping hand in your quest to find a few items that will come in handy over the next season (a lot of us have a tendency to buy something just because it's in the sale), I have compiled a list of styles that you should look out for – happy shopping!

What to look out for
Prints and patterns, particularly stripes and Moroccan style prints, will still be big next year and anything in vibrant earthy colours like orange and yellow gold. The biker jacket will live on into spring so look out for those in the sales, as well as white dresses, detailing such as fringing and tassels for a spot of folk inspiration, and flat shoes – yes footwear will be kinder to us next season! Plus, make a note of these three main trends to look out for:

COLOUR
From bold orange and daring neon to muted white these three palettes are the colours to be seen in. Introduce neon through accents such as jackets or shoes, wear white from head to toe in cool linen trousers and white shirts or maxi dresses, and go all out with orange tops and blazers. H&M and New Look are brilliant at this.

PRINT AND PATTERNS
Print from last season continues with a range to choose from and often a juxtaposition of many patterns at once! Muted floral, Persian prints and patterns with oriental and eastern influence all feature heavily, and on the more accessible side, monochrome stripes are where it’s at too. River Island has some amazing styles to look forward to.

EXPERIMENTAL GARMENTS & ACCESSORIES
Fabric gets a daring side for spring/summer with iridescent and two-tone shades decorating clothing, while unexpected fabrics such as leather, snakeskin and patent for the warmer months feature in the form of tassel detailing, biker jackets and shoes. River Island, Designers at Debenhams and Ted Baker look hot on this one.
