Saving resources
We’re a big place, so we use a lot of energy and water. We also save a lot too!
In fact our bills go down each year by doing things like:
• Putting in photo-switches to turn lights off when no-one’s around
• Collecting rainwater to flush the toilets and water the 22,000 plants around the centre
• Putting in heating controls that make sure we only burn the gas we really need to
Recycling
We’re the first shopping centre to have our very own recycling centre. 95% of our general waste is recycled and making sure that none is sent to landfill.
Every year this includes over 1500 tonnes of cardboard– that’s 90 trees a year saved!
Transport
Over X,XXX people come to work here every day and we try to encourage as many as possible of them to ditch the car.
There are cycle paths from Sheffield and Rotherham.
We’ve run a car share scheme since 2008 and all our staff qualify for discounts on bus, train and Supertram travel.
