Welcoming Cultures and Cultural Style Week Fashion Show at Meadowhall

Join us on Friday 24th May for the Welcoming Cultures and Cultural Style Week fashion show and launch event at Meadowhall!

The fashion show, hosted by BBC Sheffield presenter Arzu Dutta, and presented in partnership with Sheffield’s Welcoming Cultures organisation, the initiative includes the ‘Seeing Beyond Our Cultural Outfit’ exhibition, which is on display at the centre until the end of June, as well as day of cultural fashion showcases on Friday 24th May.

Get ready to experience a unique blend of cultures as diverse designers showcase their creations on the runway. From captivating designs to dynamic performances, this event promises to be a sensory delight.

The show will take place in The Avenue, Lower Level, outside Clubhouse, on Friday 24th May at 6pm – 7:30pm.

Discover the history and symbolism behind Dominican and Namibian clothing with special guests Jennifer Laurent Smart from Dominica and Jorokee Kamuavte from Namibia, Cultural Style Week brand ambassadors. Also, learn about the intricate details of Romanian traditional clothing from Cultural Style Week brand ambassador Alexandra, whose collection includes garments passed down through generations in her family.

Be entertained by electrifying dance performances from the Sheffield School of Bollywood and mesmerising Azerbaijani dancer Sakina Mukhtarli, featured in various media platforms following her performance with Cultural Style Week in London’s Trafalgar Square.

The fashion showcase will feature Romani designers Zita Moldovan and Terezia Rostas, among others!

The event will kickstart with a Cultural Style Exhibition and will be a visual celebration of cultural pride and its expression through fashion and personal style. Expertly curated by Terezia Rostas, a renowned Roma educational and cultural consultant, Candy-Ellie Graham, founder of Cultural Style Week, this multifaceted display will also share the inspiring stories of local Sheffield participants, celebrating not only their profound appreciation for both traditional and contemporary attire, but also underscores the collective responsibility we all share in preserving and cherishing our cultures through generations.
