Assistant Manager (Maternity cover)

Please note this is a temporary maternity cover position. You must be fully flexible with evenings and weekends included. Previous management experience is essential.



Commerciality

· Take co-ownership of your store as a business, and clearly demonstrate your knowledge and awareness in regards to all areas of its performance.

· Ensure that money mapping is completed daily, and the data is analysed to support commercial decisions affecting sales.

· Communicate sales targets, results and money mapping results, ensuring all employees understand their role in delivering them.

· Identify and take ownership of future opportunities within the store, executing partnerships with management.

· Takes an objective view of your store and identify any risks or areas that require improvement, present issues and solutions to Store Manager, and work collaboratively to address them.

· Monitor competitor activity and react/feedback accordingly, by analysing and utilising all reports.

· Maintain maximum stock availability through effective use of replenishment.

· Challenge cross-functional relationships (i.e. Buying, Merchandising, Finance etc) when appropriate.

· Control, manage and minimise all controllable costs efficiently (within planned budgets and targets).



People

· Support the Store Manager to recruit and retain high calibre employees that reflect the French Connection brand and promote excellent customer service.

· Schedule and provide a full and comprehensive induction for each new employee, ensuring that all probationary periods are completed in a timely manner

· Ensure that the Brand Ambassador Guidelines is being adhered to, and that all sales floor employees are reflective of Company expectations.

· Encourage and recognise outstanding team performance, to increase team motivation and store morale.

· Identify the training and development needs of your management and sales team, and offer the opportunity for people to fulfil their potential to support store succession.

· Provide constructive feedback on a regular basis to the team regarding performance, and develop/ coach where needed.

· Develop, implement and maintain a store succession plan, using challenging objectives to ensure continued success of the store.

· Ensure all employees have an annual appraisal, completed within the timeframe set to drive and encourage individual performance.

· Have a full understanding of your management style and demonstrate flexibility and adapt when needed.



Management

· Provide inspiration for the management and sales team by having a clear vision, clear expectations and leading by example.

· Support and drive the business strategy through strong teamwork, both with immediate colleagues and other areas of the business.

· Empower your team to demonstrate initiative, effective problem solving and to actively seek opportunities for development.

· Build a network with peer group across the business.

· Seek support to improve business processes, using best practice and external ideas as appropriate and share with Store Manager.

· Communicate information effectively to all parties, using appropriate language.

· Remain calm and be able to make rational decisions whilst under pressure or in difficult situations.

· Support the Store Manager to be an effective Change Manager, embracing change in a positive and enthusiastic manner, ensuring effective execution.

· Support the Store Manager to create a ‘service is priority’ culture within the store. Time Management

· Demonstrate effective time management skills, by taking a more proactive approach to the management of your own workload and that of your team.

· Manage multiple demands and shifting priorities, always working to ensure deadlines are met and standards maintained.

· Effectively delegate tasks to your management team based on their strengths and area of responsibilities, following up those instructions to ensure completion .



Accountability

· Take full ownership for the general running of the store in the Store Manager’s absence (annual leave, day’s off etc).

· Fully understand the expectations of your role and accept full accountability and responsibility for your store.

· Recognise, accept and maintain only the highest standards in store.

· Support the Store Manager to create a customer service culture within your store.

· Take full ownership of your personal development actively seeking feedback to improve performance.



Operations

· Support the Store manager to effectively plan and implement staffing schedules, overtime and holidays to ensure the sales floor coverage is in line with store/business needs.

· Ensure payroll information is submitted accurately and timely to the Payroll Department.

· Support the Store Manager to ensure store Mystery Shop & Stocktake results are in line with company targets, expectations and practices.

· Promote and deliver excellence in visual standards in-line with company guidelines and expectations.

· Effectively and accurately execute all floor moves, promotions and range launches in line with company guidelines, ensuring deadlines are met .

· Effectively maintain best practice within both stock room and the store office to ensure that all stock and administration is in line with company guidelines (including personnel files any confidential information).

· Comply with company policies regarding receipt of deliveries, markdowns and store transfers, Ensuring they are dealt within in a timely manner, minimising any stock loss impact on the store/business.

· Protect stock and other Company assets through promoting awareness of loss prevention within the team and through store compliance with security policies and procedures.

· Ensure all store banking and administration is reconciled each day in line with company policies and procedures.

· Ensure the store is a safe working environment by adhering to company H&S guidelines and legislation, reporting and following up maintenance issues promptly.

· Maintain housekeeping standards, ensuring all front and back of house areas are kept clean and tidy.
