Wedding Season at Meadowhall

Wedding season is finally back and it’s set to be busier than ever.

Whether you’re newly engaged, have your big day in the diary, or have got yourself an invite to toast a new happy couple this summer, here’s our wedding essentials guide for Meadowhall.

Wedding planning

When you’re planning a wedding there can be a lot to consider – from picking the date and venue choices, to guestlists, music, menus and more – it’s tricky to know where to start.

Stay organised from the off with a wedding planner or notebook from Typo or WH Smith to help keep all of your ideas, bookings and to-do lists in one place, and stay on top of everything you need in time for the special day.

An afternoon with wedding and bridal magazines may also be on the cards. You’ll find a wide selection at WH Smith, filled with helpful hints, tips, ideas and inspiration for your big day.

There’s plenty to be worked through when considering who’ll be joining you on your wedding day. Once you have that agreed, WH Smiths have a range of wedding stationery for all of your save the dates and wedding invites.

You may want to go one step further for your extra special guests and treat them to a jewellery keepsake, such as a necklace, cufflinks or personalised bracelet from Goldsmiths, H. Samuel, Beaverbrooks, Thomas Sabo or Ernest Jones.

Be my bridesmaid gift boxes and personalised hampers are also becoming increasingly popular and are the perfect way to ask your closest family and friends to be a part of your special day.

Create a personalised hamper packed with savoury and sweet treats from Marks & Spencer or Hotel Chocolat, as well as a small bottle of champagne or prosecco to celebrate. Or if they’re not a fan of bubbly, pick up some beers, or non-alcoholic fizz instead.

Pre-wedding celebrations

If you’re organising a pre-wedding party at home such as a hen or a stag do, find party essentials such as champagne flutes, party poppers, photo props and accessories at Next, as well as party games at Menkind.

You’ll also find a great range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at Marks & Spencer.

From classic Espresso Martinis to minty Mojitos, there’s plenty of inspiration online if you’re looking to create your own cocktail bar. And don’t forget the nibbles!

Find ‘The Suit’ for the Groom

If you’re getting married, you’ll want your finest for your moment in the spotlight. Meadowhall has a range of stores where you can find your perfect wedding suit for the groom or groomsmen.

Moss Bros have teamed up with Fred Sirieix for the latest edit of wedding suits.

If you’re shopping for wedding guest dresses, try New Look, Phase Eight, Hobbs or River Island. This year’s trending outfits include the classic floral midi dresses, colourful maxi dresses or – for something a little different – try a women’s trouser suit. Find a unique and elegant dress at Joe Browns.

Don’t forget the finishing touches. The right shoes, bag, jewellery and all-important wedding fascinator will complete your outfit. Head to Accessorize for a good choice.

Wedding make-up, hair and beauty

If you’re doing your own wedding makeup, head to Flannels or Boots who will be happy to offer advice and product recommendations.

The team at Supercuts are also professionals in hair styling for weddings – whether you want a bouncy blow-dry or a classic up-do, you’re sure to leave the salon looking and feeling fabulous.

You may also want to choose a special wedding fragrance. Head to The Perfume Shop or The Fragrance Shop where the team will be able to help and let you sample a range of perfumes and aftershaves to make sure you find the perfect scent.

Wedding gifts for the happy couple

Choosing a wedding gift is rarely an easy task.

A nice wedding photo frame or photo album from Jessops or Max Spielmann is a thoughtful gift that will help capture memories of their special day.

For something a little different, a cookbook from Waterstones filled with recipes for different occasions from date nights to easy weeknight meals is also a great idea.

Or if you’re stuck for ideas on gifts for newlyweds, you can’t go wrong with a gift card from Meadowhall.

And finally, Clinton Cards, Cardzone or Card Factory have a lovely range of cards and gift wrapping for the finishing touches.

Whether you’re tying the knot or are shopping outfits and gifts once you’ve RSVP’d, you can find our full list of stores on our Eat Drink Shop page.
